Default Best Matchups for 1A/2A Regional Finals

Looking over the IHSA site for teams playing in a Regional Championship this Saturday, I see super competive games all over the State. There have been very few upsets to this point so the top seeds will have to duke it out. What games do you think will provide the most excitement? Who do you see rising up and knocking off a powerhouse? I'll start...

Cumberland 1A Regonal...(2) Cumberland vs. (1) Windsor
This game matches up two ICA ranked teams, #6 Windsor and #11 Cumberland. The scheduled regular season game between these two was rained out. IMO, the teams are evenly matched in just about every area. Windsor has played very consistent ball all season while Cumberland stumbled and fumbled their way through the first half of season, but appear to have gotten their act together just in time. This game is too close to call.

I would agree with you completely. I would give the edge to Cumberland at this point based upon there latest wins and tough early schedule but either way if the teams play the way they can the game should be a close one.

I believe ranking from the ICA dont matter so the best team on game day will win

Woodlawn and Waltonville, one of the south's rivalries, is the final Saturday at Wayne City.

Default Up Nort'

Got some great matchups up north-

At Momence: Manteno vs. Bishop Mac- want to see two of the best pitchers in 2A??? Stulga at manteno and hull at mac can dominate opposing teams and have done so all season. Mac plays almost an entirely 3a/4a schedule, while manteno has dominated their conference and almost every team this season to the tune of 33-1 record.

At Seneca: Seneca vs. Wilmington- great rivalry game. Two very tough pitchers in Seneca' Pihl and Wilmington's Tupper, with two very strong lineups.

At Spring Valley Hall: St. bede vs IVC - again, two great pitchers in St. bede's Schweikert who has devastating stuff vs. IVC's Nowland who can make hitters look silly.

Not that far north at Clinton: Olympia vs. Tri Valley - two of the better central Illinois programs square off as both teams are playing well right now, Olympia has caught fire.

At Oregon: Forreston vs. Stillman Valley - another strong rivalry game, we will see who wins this one, both teams have been solid all season.

At Rock Falls: Rock Falls vs. Morrison - Morrison coming off of a huge season last year vs. Rock Falls, who has quietly flown under the radar with a very strong season.

Should be some very tough regional games. Best of luck to all teams.

Tri-City 2
St. Teresa 1

Leah Shumaker with 12 strikeouts for Tri-City outduels Tess Lamb in a great game. Stephanie Watkins hits a 2 run homer in the bottom of the 6th to give TC the lead and the win.
