yep, as a neutral third party, and with it being at our place, that was one hell of a game. Not a seat left in the house either. Good way to break in our new gym back then. Gottta love that Shrake guy's quotes.

What a nightmare for a coach.

He was so much more mature back then than he is now Oh yeah, when I said I know he posted on here and I know what his moniker is, I have to proclaim that he is not IHSA clinician so please stop asking!

I'd say a coach should have been given a bonus to put up with him.

I have heard through the grapevine that Shrake is not the IHSAClinician.

The coverage of the Decatur Herald back in the 70's and early 80's was fantastic. I loved reading Bob Fallstrom's columns. All the articles had a personal touch to them vs the box scores that are now put in the paper.

I agree. There also was a rather large man, in a wheelchair, that wrote for the Paris paper. We played them my senior year and he wrote an article on the game that I still go back and read from time to time. Great use of english language and eloquent diction. I don't want to butcher his name as I am sure he is long gone now, but I think it was Bud Wittick or something close to that. He had that same personal touch.
