I hope the Taylorville Tournament doesn't need to have people come to it to be a sucess. A tournament that features Taylorville, Rantoul, Charleston, Mattoon and Galesburg at Christmas Time is going to be hard pressed to have many spectators.
Rantoul, Charleston, Mattoon, and Taylorville went a combined 16 and 88 last year and won all of two games against Class 3A and 4A schools who weren't named Charleston, Mattoon, Taylorville and Rantoul. |

Well looks like all the complainers got their wish at the boys Charleston Holiday Tourney, no more morning games. Actually no more games at all. Be sure and let everyone know how well it turns out at your new tourney. I sure more people will miss this tourney than the few who always complained about it. Well done for many years CHS.

How many times can you bring this up in different threads? Do you have fun ripping on high school programs? If it were one of your beloved Southern Illinois teams, you would not even bring this up.

Not all High Schools have programs that are at the top. But they all have coaches and athletes who are competing and giving their best to get there. A tournament like this may be exactly what these schools need. There are a lot of positives for these schools including the fact that they all have a Holiday Tournament to compete in after Charleston decided to close shop. |

I agree FanTim - you never know how things are going to go from year to year. A team that is down one year could be decent the next. Charleston will be a lot better next year. And the other teams could get better in the coming years as well. Look at Robinson at the beginning of Coach Coffman's tenure. Look at Robinson last year - state champs - enough said! Sometimes schools have that one class with a lot of talent that can have a positive impact!
